The world is a noisy, dysfunctional place. We are surrounded by devices from televisions to smart phones that demand our attention with anything from the latest text message from a friend to the most recent crisis or victory in the news. Add to that the fact that a lot of that information has one spin or the other on it and is not all trustworthy. So many times in scripture the lord says to people be still and listen. He told Moses to tell the people, The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” If Elijah had not been still he might not have heard God during the storm and there are other examples. When is the last time you turned everything off and just listened. Or even during a storm of life, just being still and letting God work. We always got something to say or we want to get ahead of God, because things aren't going the way we think they should. Take time everyday to just listen. You might just hear God's voice in a way you never heard before.
