Ever wonder if the problems around you and your family might be something you have done that displeased the Lord. A few mornings ago I got up early and as I was getting ready for the day, I started having a nagging sense of being overwhelmed by stress. Stress from the demands upon my time. Stress from all the obligations and responsibilities. You know the feeling. A tight vice grip around your stomach. I went to the kitchen to make a pot of coffee, only to spill water over the floor. Not a good start! It just seemed like nothing was going right. Not only did I spill water but spilled most my coffee too. The more I tried to do, the worst things got. Ever get this way? I am thinking Lord what have I done? Just like the men in the boat in the above verse, the more they rowed the more the storm raged. I went to my office where I study, and finally I slowed down enough to hear that voice of the Holy Spirit say, hey JD, open your bible, spend some time with me. Be calm. Listen to me. I finally became still. And you know what happened, God drained away my stress. When we finally get out of the way, God can restore us back to peace. When we quit rowing against the tide and listened to God, He will remove our stresses. What an awesome God we serve.
