Notice the order of these two verses. Notice the process. You believe, continue in His word, become a disciple, know the truth, and then you are set free. So often we try to reverse the order. We say, "Lord, set me free from this bondage or that bondage, free me from alcohol, drugs, materialism, etc. Set me free Lord, then I will be a disciple, then I will continue in your word, and then I will believe." See how backwards we do it sometimes? Or perhaps you are a believer, but you only believe. The difference between a believer and a disciple is simple; a disciple abides in His word. We must do our part. We must continue and abide in HIS word, in order to become disciples. Ready to take the next step to freedom?
